Nintendo of Europe have confirmed that the Gamecube has already received 25,000 pre-orders from gamers in the UK - a whole month before launch.

The machine, which goes on sale across Europe on May 3rd, is expected to reach 50,000 pre-orders by the launch date, which sees the machine retailing for around 169, and games 35.99 to 39.99 each.

Some 20 titles will be available for the launch, including Luigi's Mansion, Waverace Blue Storm, and Sega's Super Monkey Ball. A further 30 titles by the Summer, such as Pikmin, F1 2002 and James Bond Agent Under Fire.

Understandably the large number of Gamecube's being pre-ordered has impressed retailers across the UK, who usually suffer from a drought of sales after what's usually the peak at Christmas.

"We are delighted at the initial reaction to the Nintendo GameCube at retail and are counting down the days to our launch on May 3" said Nintendo of Europe's MD of sales and marketing, David Gosen.

Pre-orders are said to be high across the whole of Europe, and if you've not pre-ordered yours yet, we'd suggest you check out Amazon before it's too late. We'll have a full preview of the European launch on GamesPaper, soon.
