Codemasters have confirmed that a sequel to Operation Flashpoint has been commissioned, and that more details will be released during E3 in Los Angeles next month.

Operation Flashpoint 2 is being developed by Prague-based Bohemia Interactive Studio, who were responsible for the hugely popular Operation Flashpoint. The sequel will be set in another modern-historical theatre of war, and is expected to be released on the PC in late 2004.

Commenting about the announcement, Bohemia's frontline troop Marek Spanel said "We have great plans and massive ambition for Operation Flashpoint 2 but, for the moment, we are not revealing specific details of its content and gameplay. Following the success of the original game, it's great to be working with Codemasters on the sequel and we are confident it'll become another major landmark in PC gaming."

Further details about the game will be made available from the Operation Flashpoint 2 website, and as soon as Codemasters reveal more at the E3 Expo from May 14th we'll let you know.
