Codemasters have announced that they have scooped the exclusive rights to every aspect of the England football team including all the players, shirt designs and even the Three Lions, for use in future video games.

The agreement will see the company releasing England International Football this May, in time for the build-up to the Euro 2004 championships which are being held in Portugal this summer.

England International Football is currently in development for both the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, and will have full online gameplay features exclusive to the Xbox Live - the first football game on Xbox to make use of the online broadband gaming service.

Using Xbox Live two players will be able to select from the 32 national teams and play either against each other or on the same team in cooperative play.

Real crowd chants recorded at previous England matches, alongside commentary and analysis from Gary Lineker and Barry Davies are all set to feature in the game, which will have TV-style replays showing injuries, bookings, substitutions and even the reaction from Sven on the sideline.

We'll be keeping a close eye on England International Football as the May release gets nearer, and in the meantime you can find out more by visiting the official website. All we need now is success in the Euro Championships - come on England!
