A new magazine dedicated to making and modifying games has appeared on newsagents shelves across the UK today, from Bath based magazine giant Future Publishing.

magazine coverGamemaker shows you how to make new maps for games such as Quake III, Unreal Tournament 2003 and Counter-Strike, add custom planes to Microsoft's Flight Simulator, and including modified cars in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

Editor of Gamemaker Alec Meer told us "It's high time there was a games magazine dedicated to something other than previews and reviews". Makes a welcome change from the rash of PlayStation magazines that seem to have taken over the shelves at WHSmiths too!

The magazine features "expert knowledge gleaned from sister magazines such as PC Format, PC Gamer and 3D World", which worryingly sounds like some of it is stuff that you've already read in those magazines before, although we've got our fingers crossed that this isn't the case.

Issue 1 of Gamemaker comes with a 5Gb DVD which Future say is "stuffed with utilities and tools to modify, design and create games, and a mammoth archive of mods, maps and add-ons for existing favourites", so surely worth taking a look.
