A re-designed Nintendo DS has been revealed by Nintendo in Japan, after weeks of internet rumours which had previously been strongly denied by the company.

Nintendo DS Lite

The Nintendo DS Lite is two-thirds the size of the original DS, and weighs in at just over 20 percent lighter (218g compared with 275g), whilst sporting a much cleaner case design which seems to be in the same style as the recently announced Nintendo Revolution controller.

No release date for American or European launch have been confirmed for the DS Lite yet, the Japanese launch is set for March 2nd with a retail price of 16,800 yen, meaning when it finally appears on retailers shelves here in the UK you'll be looking to pay around 100.
