Codemasters have released the very latest screenshots of their story based racing title, TOCA Race Driver.

TOCA Race Driver is the first licence-based racer to have a character in a plot-driven story that unfolds as your career develops, with action both on and off the circuit.

You'll get to be McKane, an up-and-coming new driver, who has his sights set on the championship, as he enters his first season and gets thrust in to the world of touring car racing.

As McKane's name becomes better known by both rivals and fans alike, he gets more attention, with team managers asking him to drive for them, and offering McKane advice to further his career.

Of course, not all the advice might be the best, as there's also people who are out to make sure that McKane doesn't beat their own team members to the podium positions, and those vital championship points.

Races take place on accurately mapped tracks which feature every aspect of the real location, and thanks to the 13 other cars all within inches of your bumper and squeezing your car from each side, you'll get to experience some real edge of the seat driving action.

Codemasters have developed an all new progressive physics engine and finite element modelling damage system, which means you get to see high impact collisions in their every detail, with windscreens shattering, and body panels creasing and crumpling as you crash head-long in to the tyre wall or other cars.

TOCA Race Driver is due for release on the PlayStation 2 on August 23rd, and the PC in September.
