Criterion Software have announced a deal between recently formed developer Spark, and publisher Activision for the upcoming Call of Duty: Finest Hour.

Call of Duty: Finest Hour will see players experience the chaos of battle through the eyes of ordinary soldiers fighting in World War II, in missions set among WWII's legendary battlefields of Europe and beyond.

"As a new game developer, with a group of incredibly strong designers, artists and animators, we needed a production solution that could allow everyone to start working right away" commented Craig Allen, CEO of Spark.

The RenderWare Studio software is being used to help manage the complexity of multi-platform development, allowing the developers to maximise their time and resources developing immersive storylines and gameplay instead of getting bogged down with technicalities which often delay the development cycle of a new game when an entire game engine would have had to be developed under normal situations.

Call of Duty: Finest Hour is in development for the Xbox, PlayStation 2 and Gamecube, and we're hoping to have further details about the title during E3, from Wednesday.
