Codemasters have revealed full details of Colin McRae Rally 04 on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox - but a PC version seems ominously missing from their plans.

The fourth game in a series which has sold more than 6 million copies, CMR04 will see McRae driving for Citroen, in a souped up Xsara.

Several new gameplay modes will feature in the game for the first time, including the Expert Championship which is aimed at the hardcore Rally fan, who can take hairpins with their eyes closed - the mode will see much tougher damage settings, and ultra-competitive AI drivers who will really be out to finish first.

If that's sounding a little too taxing, then fret not as there's also the option to compete in a Custom Rally, where you can create your own favourite courses made up from your favourite or themed stages such as straights, jumps or hills.

The standard Stages and Rally modes will feature, and are now fully playable in split screen multiplayer, with previous fastest times now visible as a ghost car.

Rally stages are set in eight countries including the UK, Australia, Finland, Japan and the USA - each of which have been based on the realistic locations, giving you an impressive roster of 48 tracks and 4 shakedown stages to try out your rally skills in more than 20 authentically modelled cars.

Colin McRae Rally 04 is due for release this November.
