The sequel to Sony's The Getaway is to be called The Getaway: Black Monday, and despite the name it's not about tailbacks in Bank Holiday Monday traffic jams.

Some 25 extra miles of London are being mapped out by Soho Studios, taking in an extra 17 locations, which will also include sections of the River Thames and Underground tube railway giving a whole new set of routes to traverse the sprawling capital city.

New cinematic gameplay will see three playable characters - Eddie, Mitch and Sam - taking part in "a single story with two halves, shown from three unique perspectives, interwoven by a chain of events and twists" before a shootout in a showdown with London's new gangland boss - presumably it's not Mayor Ken Livingstone though.

The Getaway: Black Monday is due for release on the PlayStation 2 in time for Christmas 2004.
