Electronic Arts have signed a worldwide agreement with Lego, which will see them publishing Lego Software titles over a three year period.

Larry Probst, CEO of Electronic Arts, said "I am especially excited to see LEGO Company and EA working as partners. Combining LEGO Company's solid brands with EA's global distribution capability will result in a formidable retail presence for the games we create together."

LEGO's Poul Plougmann added "Our mission with LEGO software is very simple. We will create world class, entertaining interactive experiences specifically for young gamers, based on LEGO Company's intellectual properties and brand values of imagination, creativity and fun. Our plan was to find the best sales, marketing and distribution company in the world, and with EA we have found a perfect partner."

Both Lego and EA will work on creating software for at least four formats, and will build on the existing franchises which include LEGO Racers Bionicle, LEGO Island, LEGO Creator Harry Potter and LEGO sport titles.
