Swedish developer Digital Illusions look set to be aquired by Electronic Arts, after a public share offer was made by the company.

The announcement was confirmed in a statement on the DICE website, in which the board of directors recommended shareholders of Digital Illusions to accept the offer of 61 Swedish Krona per share, with Dice hoping that "EA can bring the technology and resources that make possible and facilitate the transition to the new game platforms".

Dice are well known for titles including Battlefield 1942 and Midtown Madness 3, although the future of Microsoft's Xbox exclusive RalliSport Challenge series may now be in some doubt.
