The ECTS 2001 awards were presented on stage during day two of the show, by the girls from Channel 4's Bits programme.

Visitors to the show go to cast their votes on the official ects.com website, and the results were as follows:

  • Best Console of the Year - PlayStation 2
  • Best PC Hardware - NVIDIA's GeForce 3
  • Best Console Game of the Year - Gran Turismo 3
  • Best PC Game of the Year - Max Payne
  • Publisher of the Year - Ubi Soft


A panel of "hard-code games journalists" also toured the show to vote for what they thought were best games at ECTS, and the results were:
  • Best Console Game of the Show: Universal Studios by Kemco for the Gamecube
  • Best Handheld Game of the Show: Denki Blocks by Rage for the GBA
  • Best PC Game of the Show: Project Nomad by CDV
  • Best Multiplayer Game of the Show: Anarchy Online by Funcom for the PC
  • Overall Best Game of the Show: Denki Blocks by Rage for the GBA


As widely expected Black and White won the majority of PC awards, and GT3 the console awards - most of the awards that they won were for various European awards which were run in games magazines in France, Spain, Russia, etc..
