Nintendo officially announced their European Gamecube launch earlier today, in a webcast which leaked out across the internet before the weekend.
As we reported on Friday, the console will launch on May 3rd, and will retail for around 249 Euros, or somewhere between £150 and £175 in the UK, depending on the exchange rate and retailers.
Purple and Black variations of the console will be available at launch, and controllers will come in Purple, Black, and Purple and Clear. No prices have yet been announced for accessories, but Nintendo have said that games will retail at around 60 Euros (£40) each.

Nintendo will be supporting the launch of the Gamecube with a 100 million euros marketing campaign across Europe, with 500,000 machines available for the launch day, and a total of 1 million consoles available during the launch period.

Speed boost for British gamers
Internet service providers across the UK have been increasing connection speeds rapidly over the past few months, with new higher speed 8Mbps products from BT Total Broadband and other major ADSL providers.
The new faster speeds are already being offered in some parts of the country, where operator UK Online are providing a Home 22Mbps service over selected BT telephone lines in major urban areas.
Meanwhile gamers living in Telewest and NTL cabled areas can now receive up to 10Mbps download speeds on the top consumer package.
