Nintendo officially announced their European Gamecube launch earlier today, in a webcast which leaked out across the internet before the weekend.

As we reported on Friday, the console will launch on May 3rd, and will retail for around 249 Euros, or somewhere between 150 and 175 in the UK, depending on the exchange rate and retailers.

Purple and Black variations of the console will be available at launch, and controllers will come in Purple, Black, and Purple and Clear. No prices have yet been announced for accessories, but Nintendo have said that games will retail at around 60 Euros (40) each.

Nintendo will be supporting the launch of the Gamecube with a 100 million euros marketing campaign across Europe, with 500,000 machines available for the launch day, and a total of 1 million consoles available during the launch period.
