Microsoft have announced that they will be releasing an external HD-DVD drive for the Xbox 360 console later this year, allowing owners to use the next-generation DVD format on Microsoft's new console which launched around the world last year.
The news confirmed our earlier article where we correctly suggested that Microsoft were to use tonight's keynote speech at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, to announce HD-DVD support for the Xbox 360, after an interview with Peter Moore was posted online and gave away some major clues about giving owners "more options for high definition".
After the announcement had been made Peter Moore said that over 50 High Definition games would be available for the Xbox 360 by the end of June 2006, and also gave a live demonstration of EA Sports Fight Night Round 3, before going on to say that the demo was available to download straight away from Xbox 360's online Marketplace.
