Mobile phone operator Vodafone have launched the world's first mobile games championship, with a tour which takes in ten cities around the UK during the summer months.

Aleks Krotoski, and a GX10i mobile phone

The Vodafone live! Arcade UK tour is being hosted by Aleks Krotoski of Bits and Thumb Bandits fame, and has so far seen the first round take place in Glasgow on July 24th, where every entrant received a 20 mobile discount voucher simply for taking part - can't be bad.

Vodafone's tour bus will be making it's way to Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham, Birmingham, London, Cardiff, Plymouth, Newcastle and Belfast, where the regional finalists will walk away with 700 worth of prizes including Sharp GX-10i phones, and a London based grand final will see the national winner being treated to a luxury holiday in Ibiza.

Further details about how to take part and where the tour is heading, can be found on the Vodafone website, and we'll bring further coverage of the Vodafone live! Arcade games championship, when it visits ECTS at London's Earls Court on August 28th.
