Nintendo have this afternoon announced that the Gamecube is to get a North American price cut, to under the magic $100, and making a price cut in Europe seem all the more likely.

Effective from tomorrow, American gamers will be able to pick up the Gamecube for only $99.99 - some $80 less than the US price of Microsoft's Xbox and Sony's PlayStation 2.

If Europe is to follow with a similar price cut before Christmas, then it's possible that the Gamecube will drop to about 80, and highly likely to start yet another price war with both Sony and Microsoft making similar price adjustments.
