Nintendo's Gamecube has launched in Japan, although the recent news events appear to have had an affect on sales.

Despite being the world launch of a much sort-after machine, sales have reportedly been down, and the events in America earlier in the week would appear to be the reason for the lack of buyers.

Another reason for the small crowds could also be seen as the lack of publicity which the machine appears to have been given, with much of the marketing expected after the launch on the run up to Christmas instead.

The queues which usually build up around Japanese electronics stores for a console launch were reportedly not to be found.

GamesPaper will be brining further coverage of the launch titles over the coming weeks, along with our hands on previews from The Nintendo Show which we attended at the start of September.
