Nintendo of America have announced that the retail price of the Gamecube in America is to be set at $149 - not much of a suprise after the last week of US price cuts.

American gamers have seen all three consoles cut their retail prices in the last week, with Sony announcing the PS2 price cut to $199, which was followed a day later by Microsoft announcing an immediate cut on Xbox to the same price.

Nintendo have now slashed $50 off of the Gamecube, which again makes the console the cheapest option of the three available in America, and bringing the price roughly in line with that of the European price which Nintendo of Europe cut to 129 before the launch.
