Ubi Soft announced over the ECTS weekend that they'd signed Steven Gerrard for their Game Boy Advance football title Total Soccer 2002.

Gerrard is a member of the Liverpool football team, and also scored one of the goals in the 5-1 thrashing of Germany, the day before ECTS.

The title follows in the footsteps of Total Soccer on the Game Boy Color, which received many favourable reviews, and is set to have faster and more detailed graphics, along with latest statistics and teams.

A multiplayer option also allows two players to link their GBA's together, in a selection of tournaments or in friendly matches.

In a pleasant surprise, Steven Gerrard's Total Soccer 2002 was playable at the Nintendo show on the same day that the title had been announced, under the name of "Total Soccer 2002", and seems to have characteristics and gameplay similar to the classic Sensible Soccer from the early 90's.

Steven Gerrard's Total Soccer 2002 will be running out on to the GBA's pitch during October 2001.
