According to reports in the LA Times newspaper, the Xbox console isn't likely to find it's way over to the Far East until early next year - possibly March 2002.

The delay is thought to have been caused by Microsoft being concerned that they haven't attracted a large enough interest in the Japanese market.

A formal announcement is due to be made by Microsoft on Monday about the launch date and also details of the price at which the machine and games will retail at.

This news comes only a day after Nintendo announced that the US launch of their GameCube console had been put back by two weeks to November 18th - after the Xbox's US launch.

The GameCube and Xbox consoles are due to be released in Europe during 2002.
