Codemasters have just released some stunning screenshots showing the end of stage service area action, on the Xbox version of Colin McRae Rally 3.

After you complete a stage of the rally, the action instantly moves to the end stage and service area sequences, which see your team fixing any damage to the car and replacing worn components and tyres, before another Stage Start sequence sees you starting the next stage in the rally.

Codemasters have decided to include the service area as a core feature of the game because they feel that it really adds to the experience of being a member of the team - actually being Colin McRae - as your mechanics adjust settings and fix your car so as it's atleast got a chance to get to the next service point in one piece.

"We want the game to give the player a real sense of being McRae and being part of an international rally team. Colin McRae Rally 3 is more than the 'start stage, race car, end stage' construction of its previous incarnations. So the rally driving is mixed with these sequences to provide the flow of a rally and create the long-term tension of the almost year-long season", said Head of Studio and producer of the Colin McRae Rally, Guy Wilday, before dropping a heavy spanner on his foot and limping back to the team motorhome.

Colin McRae Rally 3 is due it's PlayStation 2 and Xbox release on October 11th, some two weeks later than orginally planned, with PC and version of the game are due to follow during 2003.
