Microsoft have announced that there are now over 1 million people signed up to their Xbox Live online gaming network, with gamers located in 24 countries around the world.

It's believed that since the service launched in November 2002 a stunning 20,000 years worth of gaming has been racked up by users of the service, with an average of 265,549 hours played each and every day.

British gamers are at the forefront of Xbox Live, with London coming only second to Tokyo when it comes to the having most Xbox Live members, with big names such as Houston, Chicago, Toronto, San Diego and New York following closely behind.

Some 150 Xbox Live enabled titles are expected to be available by the end of 2004, including several from Electronic Arts who finally pledged their support for the network at E3 earlier this year, and you can find out more about the service in our guide to getting started with Xbox Live.
