Sony have announced that they'll be bringing the Linux kit for the Playstation 2, to Europe after huge demand from the Linux users.

The kit was originally only available in Japan, where some 7900 Japanese gamers got their hands on the beta version of the kit. Since then, Sony Europe have received over 9000 requests for the kit from European PS2 owners.

From May 2002, European gamers interested in having Linux for their PS2, will be able to purchase the kit which comes bundled with Network Adapter, 40 Gb Hard Drive, USB Keyboard and Mouse, monitor cables, software and full technical manuals.

Sony expect the kit to retail for around 249 Euros (roughly 150), which seems somewhat of a bargain when you consider all the hardware you're also getting. Further details will be available on www.technology.scee.net as soon as they become available, and we'll bring further news nearer the release.
