Codemasters have sent us the very first screenshots of Race Driver 2, to replace those which Microsoft released to the press during X03 in the South of France earlier this week and were actually of the original Race Driver - oops.

Featuring a new rendering engine which will let the game run at a constant 60 frames per second, Race Driver 2 will allow for complex dynamic lighting, perspective mapped shadows, multipass textures, procedural standing grass and a host of post production techniques including true motion blur, depth of field and iris effects. Don't ask us what procedural standing grass is, but it sounds fancy.

Cinematic sections which have triple the detail of TOCA Race Driver will be interspersed with the action, which will revolve around a Reality TV style eliminator storyline, where 12 drivers are competing against each other to become a Masters Grand Prix professional.

Race Driver 2: The Ultimate Racing Simulator is scheduled to be screeching it's tyres on the Xbox and PC during the spring of next year, with full online Xbox Live play, making it a game that we're tipping for huge success.
