Codemasters have announced that Chris Ryan of the SAS eight-man team chosen for the Bravo Two Zero mission during the Gulf war, has become the military consultant for IGI 2: Covert Strike.

The mission saw three of the team killed in action and four were captured, but Chris managed to escpare in an eight-day trek across the desert, which he then wrote about in his book titled The One That Got Away.

Because of his experience Codemasters felt that they had to snap up his knowledge and get advice on the accuracy of more than 30 weapons and the tactics which gamers can use during the game.

"It's great to have Chris providing advice and input in to the creation of IGI 2: Covert Strike. He has both the experience of real SAS combat and yet also appreciates the dramatisation of such situations through either novels or games. Chris is now an important contributor to ensuring the game hits the spot."

IGI 2: Covert Strike is due for release on the PC this November.
