The service pack will see a whole set of new functionality introduced to the rail simulator, including improvements to drivers artificial intelligence, and passenger trains with doors that open when stopped at a station and have awaiting passengers board the carriages.

Scheduling ability has also been improved and a new timetable feature allows sessions to be set up in the Surveyor tool and shared with other gamers. A "portal tunnel" is also being introduced which will give gamers the ability to have trains enter and exit the map at specified times, and even the ability for trains to enter the tunnel empty and return with a full load.

Several other enhancements have been made based on feedback from the Trainz community since TRS2004 was released late last year, including having signals change at the start instead of the end of a train, and improvements to the on-screen display to provide a greater amount of detail and flexibility.

A release date for the free Service Pack 2 download is yet to be announced, but further details are expected to be confirmed in the coming days on the official Trainz Railway Simulator website.
