Sega of America have confirmed their multi-format plans, at the E3 expo in Los Angeles.

This fiscal year, Sega plans to release more than 20 Sega games on multiple platforms, including "Virtua Fighter 4" for PlayStation 2, "Crazy Taxi Next" (working title) for Xbox, and "Phantasy Star Online" (working title) for the GameCube.

Peter Moore, president and COO, Sega of America, said "Sega has been a third party publisher for only a few months and already, we have an unprecedented lineup for this fiscal year across all platforms".

Titles which Sega are currently developing include:

Game Boy Advance

  • ChuChu Rocket! - Frantic action for up to four people using the same cartridge. New gameplay modes and over 2500 unique puzzle boards will keep gamers up at night!

  • Sonic The Hedgehog Advance (working title) - All of the lightning speed of Sonic comes to Game Boy Advance! Play as Sonic and his friends in an all-new adventure to stop the evil Dr. Robotnik.

  • Advanced Columns (working title) - The smash puzzle game is reinvented, with a new quest, new modes of play and devastating special attacks.


  • Phantasy Star Online (working title) for the GameCube - The extremely popular "Phantasy Star" franchise makes its debut on GameCube, continuing the evolution of the original revolutionary gaming experience.

  • Super Monkey Ball (working title) - Monkey Ball delivers colorful graphics, bright upbeat music and exciting gameplay with an adorable monkey (in a ball!) and challenges players to maneuver a ball by quickly tilting the floor and getting the ball safely to the end of the stage without letting it fall off the edges.

  • Virtua Striker 3 Ver.2002 (working title) - Perform high-flying bicycle kicks, headers and shoot-outs while hearing the chants of the crowd in this flawless soccer sim.

PlayStation 2

  • Virtua Fighter 4 - everything that made the original an arcade mega-hit, plus new characters, new moves, stunning visuals and much more.

  • K-Project (working title) - Developed by the team who brought you Space Channel 5, K-Project is a genre-breaking, music-driven title that seeks to create a fresh new experience for gamers.

  • Space Channel 5 - The futuristic news casting diva Ulala debuts on PS2, setting out to conquer invading aliens and rescue their funky dancing hostages.

  • Sega Sports NFL 2K2 - The acclaimed football sim and third-year veteran, makes its debut on PlayStation 2 with the look of a champion.

  • Sega Sports NBA 2K2 - The amazingly realistic gameplay, vibrant graphics and crisp player animations of the Sega Sports NBA 2K franchise step onto PlayStation 2, making "Sega Sports NBA 2K2," the game to beat!


  • GUNVALKYRIE - Showcasing alien hostility, heavy artillery and cutting edge genetic technology, GUNVALKYRIE blends intense action with stunning visuals as you explore a terrifying world to save a scientist while exterminating an aggressive alien species.

  • JSRF - Jet Set Radio Future" (working title) - Get ready for a cutting-edge soundtrack, a groundbreaking artistic look and insane new tricks. It's all about extreme skating, extreme action and extreme style.

  • Sega GT 2002 (working title) - Adrenaline-filled, car racing game featuring amazingly real vehicles and graphics.

  • House of the Dead 3 - The horror has returned. You'll need every ounce of your reflexes and marksmanship skills if you hope to survive.

  • Crazy Taxi Next (working title) - Pedestrians will need to watch out when the "Crazy Taxi" franchise hits Xbox.

  • Sega Sports NFL 2K2 - The substance, realism and competition of "Sega Sports NFL 2K2 charges onto the powerful Xbox.

  • Sega Sports NBA 2K2 - Touted as the best basketball game released last year, "NBA 2K2" makes its debut on Xbox and is sure to place "NBA 2K2" atop the basketball ranks.
