Sony have confirmed that their PlayStation Portable will finally be launching across Europe on September 1st, after months of delays.
As widely expected the machine will retail for £179, which will see a PAL version of the console, along with all of the Value Pack features which include a 32MB Memory Stick Duo, battery pack, headphones with remote control, power adapter, pouch, wrist strap, cloth and a UMD sampler disc with several non-interactive game demos.
Owners that register their PSP on the official European PSP website will receive a free copy of Spider-Man 2 on UMD Video, similar to the offer which was made available to American owners when the machine launched.
Surprisingly the launch titles haven't been confirmed yet, and don't appear to be listed on the yourpsp.com website either - presumably meaning we'll only find out nearer the time, and maybe after some new titles are announced at E3 next month.
Yesterday online retailer Amazon.co.uk changed their expected release date for the PSP to September 30th on their PSP pre-order page, however with todays announcement that should soon be updated to reflect the true September 1st date.

Speed boost for British gamers
Internet service providers across the UK have been increasing connection speeds rapidly over the past few months, with new higher speed 8Mbps products from BT Total Broadband and other major ADSL providers.
The new faster speeds are already being offered in some parts of the country, where operator UK Online are providing a Home 22Mbps service over selected BT telephone lines in major urban areas.
Meanwhile gamers living in Telewest and NTL cabled areas can now receive up to 10Mbps download speeds on the top consumer package.
