Over 1000 gamers packed the Virgin Megastore on Oxford Street earlier today, when Nintendo's legendary video games creator Shigeru Miyamoto made his first visit to Europe.

Fans of Shigeru Miyamoto are believed to have queued outside the store overnight to ensure they got to meet the genius behind Super Mario Bros and Donkey Kong, with the first 15 people in the que given a free signed copy of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past on the Game Boy Advance.

During the two hour visit Miyamoto got to meet gamers of all ages, and sign copies of games and artwork. "Itís been a fantastic day, and we were really pleased to see the reception Mr. Miyamoto received from his excited and loyal fans who were thanked for their support with a personal handshake from their hero" commented Nintendo's head of PR Shelly Friend.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is due for release on the GBA in Europe on March 28th, and Gamecube owners will be able to get their hands on The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker from May 3rd.
