Nintendo DS has launched in the UK and across Europe, with a number of stores opening their doors to punters who had queued up to get one of the 650,000 launch units.

The 99.99 dual-screen machine sees some 15 launch titles retailing between 19.99 and 29.99, including WarioWare Touched! and Project Rub which make use of the touch-sensitive screen and microphone.

Built-in WiFi also allows up to 16 Nintendo DS owners to play games without wires linking the machines, and the included PictoChat software gives the ability to take part in wireless conversations by sending text and hand-drawn images.

Nintendo claim that some 130 titles are currently in development for the system, whilst all the previous GameBoy Advance games can also be played on the machine due to it's backwards compatibility.
