Microsoft have today announced that they're launching an Xbox budget range in the USA, called Platinum Hits.

Some 16 games make up the list of titles which are expected to retail for only $19.99 each (about 15) - however nothing has been confirmed for Europe as yet.

The titles in the Platinum Hits range are:

  • Amped Freestyle Snowboarding
  • Blood Wake
  • Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex
  • James Bond 007 in . . . Agent Under Fire
  • Max Payne
  • Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee
  • Project Gotham Racing
  • RalliSport Challenge
  • Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams
  • Simpsons Road Rage
  • SpyHunter
  • SSX Tricky
  • Star Wars: Obi-Wan
  • Star Wars: Starfighter Special Edition
  • Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
  • Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions

Many of the games are some of Xbox's earlier (and less impressive) releases, and so it's expected that they'd be cheaper - infact many retailers in the UK are already selling some of them for 15 or less, and it seems likely that similar is happening in America, but a couple of the titles should instantly be snapped up if they're not already in your collection, such as RalliSport, Project Gotham, Amped, to name just a few.

More details about the range can be found at's Platinum Hits page. Here's hoping that Microsoft announce a European budget range, and if they do we'll let you know.
