Xicat Interactive have announced that they're going to be the new publisher of the Janes military aircraft titles.

Xicat will be making full use of the extensive library of resources and knowledge which Janes have built up over the years, of which they have a well respected heritage of flight simulators - the Xicat titles will follow on from the Janes Combat Simulations which were published by Electronic Arts.

Jane's Attack Squadron will be the first title published under the agreement by Xicat, and puts the gamer in control of World War II planes, taking part in a number of battles in the European Theatre of Operations - playing as either the Allied or Axis side.

Dr Ian Lane Davis, head of Mad Doc Software said "Mad Doc Software is terrifically excited to be able to bring Jane's Attack squadron to an eager market. We fully expect Jane's Attack Squadron to be the greatest WWII Flight Sim ever. JAS has been a labour of love for many of our employees who worked on it for years at Looking Glass, and to be able to complete a game of this calibre and beauty is a thrill for all of us."

Jane's Attack Squadron is due for release on the PC early in 2002.
