The festival, called "2C: The Official PlayStation Event", will celebrate the lifestyle which has grown up around the PlayStation, and will take place in the 35,000 capacity Gunnersbury Park in West London.

An open air stage with live acts, along with a mix arena featuring DJ's from major labels will be entertaining the crowds, with state of the art sound and visual systems providing a memorable experience, and breakdancing sessions from some of the world's best crews and street art demos by top UK artists will also be taking place.

Further entertainment will be provided in the form of free sports arenas, which will have a rolling programme of skateboarding, BMX and dirt bike demos. A huge screen cinema big enough for 3000 people will show a mixture of video shorts, music promos, cutting edge films and documentaries. A 3000 capacity bar and market area will also be provided.

The event will also showcase titles from top PlayStation game publishers, including classic PlayStation titles, alongside upcoming releases from later in 2002, giving gamers a chance to see new games months before they're released.

Sony's Director of Marketing for PlayStation, Darren Carter, told us: "We were approached by 2Converge Limited, who wished to organise a lifestyle event with PlayStation at its heart. We felt that this type of event would be ideal to further extend the PlayStation brand in a tangible and above all enjoyable way."

2C: The official PlayStation event, takes place from 4th to 6th of May 2002, at Gunnersbury Park in London, and tickets cost 18 per day. For further information, and to book tickets check out the official website at or call the ticket hotline on 0115 934 8757 - we'll bring further news of the event along with confirmation of the acts and DJs as soon as they're announced.
